What does your name mean?

‘Baby’ is Sheri Moon’s character in House of 1000 Corpses, my favourite film. ‘Bones’ is a rock band reference to my taste in music.

Why all the tattoos?

I like to wear my heart on my sleeve. I’ve always loved tattoos. Its not a fashion thing for me, its for life. I’ve already got a tattoo dedicated to Motley Crue, and I’m in the middle of my Backyard Babies tattoo. After that I think it’ll be an Ozzy Osbourne dedication. Music is very important to me and I’ve loved these bands for 10 years. It’s my way of showing loyalty.
But I also have things like fairies because they’re beautiful! Also my name, and scrolls that say ‘Mum & Dad’ and my partner’s name.

Won’t they look a bit silly when you’re older?

I don’t think I’ll be getting undressed much when I’m older. But never say never!

When did you get into burlesque?

I was into striptease first, but a bit put off by the stereotype of being blonde, no tattoos with big fake boobs. I discovered burlesque around 2003 and started performing burlesque acts in 2004.
I found I could perform on stage, be a lot more creative and people liked it. Its very empowering for women, especially if you’re not a skinny, blonde with big fake boobs!

Why do you like it?

My favourite thing is to perform, my second favourite is to watch other performers. I love seeing real women on stage and love to see everyone’s fun ideas for acts. I love the striptease part of it, but also the showgirl part! It’s all great.

What does ‘burlesque’ mean?

It essentially means a satire, but its also come to be commonly associated with American style bump n’ grind dancing, or light striptease. It’s not nude dancing, its more tasteful and a lot left to the imagination.
My acts are mostly striptease, but with a lot of showmanship and often comedy.
My only satirical act is the ‘Miss World’ act, but it also has striptease!

Are you in a band?

Haha, certainly not! I co-manage my partner’s band, Dollar-Sent. A hard rock three piece based in Brighton. We also run Ampwitch promotions together. But there is no musical talent in me at all!
